Arise: A Truly Emotional Story Rating: 8/10 Easily, one of the BEST EMOTIONAL GAME I have ever played! If you love the story of games like Days Gone or Before Your Eyes, man this is The Game for you. It's about Love, Life, & Death that we all are going to experience one day. Its a really simple 4 hrs story but the narration is so fantastic with its music and visuals, you are gonna spend more time feeling the emotions than actually playing the game. If you love platformer games, this is a 10/10 for you, ignore my rating. I am listening to its theme music as I write the review and feel the emotions. Thanks for including it free. One reviewer said it true - "Ironic, this game is called Arise yet you’re always falling."

Since purchasing this game, I had really only thought that it was a game about the process of grieving and remembering a loved one. It looked like a cute game with a lot of potential, though I never knew just how wonderful of a game this could be. Not only does this game explore the grandeur of living life with another person, but it also highlights the hardships that a couple can run into during their lives. Every moment of this game was thought out and executed very well in my opinion, and I am so glad to have played this game. When I initially purchased the game, I thought this would be a short game that could be finished within a few hours. This game very well could be finished within a few hours, but that doesn't add in the time needed to gather the memories of the main character's life. There are 10 chapters in total for this game, and the story literally accounts for every moment of his life from when he meets his significant other, down to his last moments with her. Every chapter explores a different section of their life, and with it comes the wonders and tribulations of those. Relationships are something that a lot of people romanticize, and while this game does a little of this, it is nothing but honest about all the emotions people can feel. Each and every chapter was well-written and flows from start to finish too, so there were no unanswered questions at any point during the play through. The music was beautifully composed for this game, every composition matching the theme of the chapter. Some of it was gentle, some of it was anxiety-inducing, and other bits were so heart-wrenching. Of course, there were moments where the music would pause or go into a brief remission, but not once did it get tiresome or irritating because it looped. This is something that I would absolutely listen to over and over because of how wonderful it was. The achievements were very balanced for the game. There were the story achievements you got for just finishing the chapter, then you had the memory collecting achievements, and then you had level-specific achievements where you had to complete a task. Each of these grew in difficulty so there were variation. This game made it very easy to retry levels to get achievements or to replay the level entirely. I will say, I would have appreciated a tutorial or a hint saying that I could replay a level by praying at the statue (just like building them) but it was something a quick search found. I otherwise have no issues. Overall, this is a game that has had so much love, time, and effort put into it, and you can tell that when you play. Games like these tend to be smaller, but it's worth so much to experience. Not once were the emotions made out to feel like a burden or made light of, and were given proper tribute to. I got so much more than I bargained for when I purchased this game, and I'm so glad to have had the chance to play it, especially with how much we are given. There are some heavy topics that are discussed in the game, so play at your own risk, but I absolutely recommend playing it on your own.
