What a hidden gem! I absolutely love Slay the Spire and any deck builder, for that matter. If you have any interest in deck-building games, you need to check this one out—it's right up there, second only to the greatest of all time. This game offers some unique features, there are three "zones" to explore, over 16 heroes - offering some excellent tri-hero synergies, and a unique timer system that lets you explore hexes; before the cataclysm appears which offers a mini-boss based on the region, before you fight the final boss! You start with three and unlock more heroes as you progress. Each hero can level up to 10, unlocking all their cards, and they can equip up to four artifacts. Some cool decks I've had fun with , a recent one was a minion deck that I ran through, using Carrion, Ragnarok, and Leon.

Pros: - Nice art style - Fun card/turn based combat - Good roster of characters, and all feel uniquely different - Plenty of in game info (such as status effect details, effect duration, ect.) - High replay value, with runs lasting from 30-90 minutes. Feeling a decent sense of progression towards unlocks with each run. Cons: - The game isnt all that difficult to beat. Took me about 4 runs to beat it on normal. Luckily there is a hard mode, but I have yet to try it. - Card unlocks for each character start out pretty slow. Verdict: 8/10 Great game, easy buy if on sale. Not a bad deal at full price.

Very good card battler. Wide variety of heroes and good mechanics. Very grindy if you want to 100% achievements as lots of heroes and two modes you need to grind through to get all of them but besides that, would recommend this one.

Tricky to learn, Fun to master Im usually only write review until i reached 100% achievement, but this review need to come out ASAP since it was written during steam sale. I will be honest to say that this game already stopped receiving updates because of poor sales, hence why I tried writing review and hope it can get more traction. This game is pretty team based roguelite deckbuilder that played around with combination of 3 characters each with their own pro / con. Each character have 2 colour associated with them, so having same colour will have time to switch around the coloured neutral card. Kinda like many other TCG out there, with each colour have its gameplay & strategy. 4 things i always search in roguelike deckbuilder are: 1. RNG : meaning there is chance to get godly run that required strategic thinking 2. Meta-progression : those unlocking new cards or character to play with 3. Complexity : make your brain moving while playing 4. Achievement : extrinsic motivation to keep play (just.. 1 more.. run...) And the game have all above which easily have content for 100++ hours. The only caveat is game is super tricky to figure at start since you need to balance between 3 characters deck and you not sure how to progress in its unique map. Apparently there is supposed to be more variety map, but too bad sale not enough (hence why you should buy it) I think the most fun i had with game is definitely the ultimate challenge of beating a game with random team. Some people complaint that this game required a support / healer, but i did won couple of games with all offensive strategy. The problem solving and RNG factor to find godly run is what drive me to play the game until the end. Review written immediately after beating apex difficulty at about 53 hours in. Definitely will try to 100% this game. EDITED Post 100% : So i have cleared apex difficulty with various random team which have different variance of difficulty. Even good team also will have issue if you dont get good artifact or ability. However, when I played arena with mindset to make 1 character as center for 20 runs achievement, game is kinda became too easy and im pretty much steamroll regardless which character / playstyle i was focused on. Using premade team definitely made the game easier, but it also boring as many other reviewer said. Definitely would recommend to play all-random since it required more strategic thinking.

Play Slay the Spire first. Then play Slice and Dice. Then The Last Spell. Then Hades. Then and only then when you've exhausted all other good roguelite and card games, go ahead and give this one a try. I wanted to like this game. But the card gameplay and deckbuilding is just so incredibly shallow. This game gets so close to greatness, it only increases the disappointment when you realize how simple it is. Still gets a thumbs up though. I got it on the cheap and enjoyed it for a few hours. It gets a solid 2.5/5 from me. Not the worst thing I've ever played.
