Anomaly Agent An Indie Game Masterpiece Review Introduction –play as legally distinct spike spiegel– Chief “They promoted this idiot?! I can’t believe it! ” Jokes aside, this game is an indie hidden gem! Impression(s) I do believe this game took inspiration from some other great games, like Hotline Miami ’s visceral and quick-paced combat, and Katana ZERO ’s plethora of dialogue options and ambience. But that doesn’t make Anomaly Agent any less original, in fact, it feels very distinct and definitely has its own identity! Brief Synopsis In this game, you play as Agent 70, you work for TDAY , a special facility dedicated to containing anomalies that could threaten to uneven the balance and the stability of reality of the very world you live in. Also, your chief is very mean :( . Gameplay/Game Flow The combat and platforming [¹] experience feels very satisfying and responsive, and it only gets better as your character progresses, in fact, your character can even *inherit* anomaly powers from the bosses you defeat! Opening up a wide variety of new combos, yes, this game also has combos! LOTS OF THEM ! And you can get really crazy with it! Things might be a little tough at the start, even in normal mode, but as long as you put effort into it, you’ll get better. Being at a sliver of health will put you at the edge of your seat, and leaving a tough battle as the last man standing just feels so satisfactory. Pro Tip: You can hold crouch and then input a walking direction, you slowly walk like a badass. Game Design The level design is great, and I seldom find myself confused about what to do, the design also incentivises level exploration, leaving you to find things that might help ease your journey, not only at the beginning, but also towards the middle of the game and the end of it. Game Setting The storytelling and worldbuilding are equally surreal and fun, and I love it! The witty references embedded in the experience and dialogue as well as the beautifully designed levels make it all the more memorable of a game. It is very evident the developers put a *lot* of love into this game, both dialogue & asset-wise and just in general. And the soundtrack? Oh, what a soundtrack! They are pretty energetic and some even catchy, they'll definitely put you in the mood for the game for sure! They fit each level & occasion very well, in my opinion. Notes [¹] Currently, there are no parkour/platforming upgrades that can be obtained, but this does not devalue or take away from the parkour/platforming experience, and to be fair, it doesn’t need any, as it already feels very good as-is. Took me about 6:30 hours to complete the game, you might be able to complete it in less than that, but I’d recommend not to rush this experience and take your time exploring this game and what it has to offer. Conclusion Overall, I think this is a great game, the characters are funny and some even charismatic! (Wrestler & Chief Impostor, my beloved) . The progression system is intuitive, you have quite a bit of agency when it comes to selecting upgrades, and the subsequent story and dialogue can be influenced by your choices. Overall a very captivating game! I don't regret a single cent spent in this game. (Personally, I bought this game while on sale, but the original price seems rather affordable compared to other indie games, which seem to be quite money-hungry nowadays) Final Message Well, watcha waitin’ for? Go get this game! Chief “Stop slacking off and HURRY UP! ” And if you can’t right now… Wrestler will be waiting for you! [quote=Anomaly Agent Wishlist Trailer Video] Wrestler “ Wishlist Now. I’ll be waiting for you. ” Thank you if you’ve read it this far. This is my mini love letter to this game and its devs, and if the devs ever get to read this, I just want to say thanks for making such a fun game! Much love.

I really like the art, soundtracks, humor in Anomaly Agent. Level designs are simple but decent. Gameplay is not bad but sometimes response times can be pain in the ass other than that gameplay is fun in my opinion. Game is not easy (except puzzles) and can be very challenging. Considering it's a debut game for independent studio and as a huge fan of the genre I'll say Anomaly Agent issa solid 7.5 outta 10.

TL;DR Pros: [*]Nice combat and platforming with a good story [*]Solid soundtrack [*]Game's humor [*]Very good level design and boss fights [*]Good animations Cons: [*]Few issues like at some times, if you spam too many buttons on the controller, character doesn't respond to your feedback and stands still for 2-3 seconds [*]Combat might get a bit repetitive, could've used more combo options [*]Controls might feel a bit messy at times As this is the studio's first game, it's quite impressive and it's a good game as well. The combat and platforming are nice, but the combat might feel a bit repetitive at some point. However, the game really tries its best to keep the combat fresh with the new abilities and weapons. I believe it could've used a bit more depth, but as it is, it's still good. Boss fights are very good and enjoyable. Also well designed because not only do you have to beware of the boss itself, but you also have to beware of your surroundings otherwise you might die. The Story is good and the game has two endings. The dialogues are fun. They don't change anything in the game, but they try to make you more interested in the story, and, as I said, they're fun. The game has good humor and it uses it on those dialogues very well. And the soundtrack, it needs to be released ASAP. It goes very well with the combat and the soundtrack is very, very good. I've also noticed a few bugs like if you spam multiple buttons on your controller, the character stands still and doesn't respond to anything, no feedback for 2-3 seconds. Other than that, it's a very good and challenging experience and also features New Game+
