Animalia Survival is a great game and I highly recommend it to those who love animals and more specifically the animals of the African savannah. However, the game also has some bad points. So, if you can't get past them, this game might not be for you. Here are the bad points: Negative points: [*]The game have some bugs. For example, sometimes you can't eat/drink and you have to change position and try again. There is also a glitch where you walk underwater instead of swimming. The day/night cycle is also broken at the moment, since the last update. But well, those are very small inconvenients. Once you get used to those bugs and you know how to handle them, you just forget they exist and can enjoy the game. [*]The price for the game is ok. However, the DLCs are way too expensive. I bought one of them (the EggHunt one) and for almost 20.-, you only have one new playable animal, one bunny ears (cosmetic) and 2 new save slots. It's nothing. And it's worse for the other DLCs where you don't even have a new playable animal. You only have cosmetics and skins. [*]The main menu is neither good looking nor intuitive. When you press a button, the color doesn't change, so you don't know if the button is selected or not. Also, the first time I played, I didn't have any sound. You have to activate the sounds yourself in the settings. In the animal creation menu, it seems you can change the physical appearance of your animal, but it doesn't work when you try. And the first time I played, I spent a lot of time trying to understand why I couldn't spawn my animal: that was because I chose a skin with a little diamond above it, which mean I have to pay to use it. But there were no indication that I couldn't use it. [*]When you spawn, you start as a baby and you don't have much to do during the growing phase. If you were born in a family, it's better. But still, it's often boring to grow. You just wait in a safe spot and be afk until you're adult. Once you're adult, you can hunt, travel, mate and start a family and take care of your babies. But as a baby, you're too weak to do anything, so you just hide and wait. However, the good thing is that the more people you have in your group, the faster you'll grow. [*]There is no tutorial. I think that's really a shame, because there are a lot of content and game mecanics that players don't even know about, just because there is no information about them. For exemple, as a warthog or meerkat, you can dig by pressing C at specific places. Or as a leopard, you can climb trees once you're sub-adult. But how are you supposed to know all that if nothing is said about it? Most of the things I know about the game, I've learned it from other players. I think it's a real shame, because a lot of players think that there aren't a lot of game mechanics in the game, when in fact there are a lot of them. Positive points: [*]The community is very friendly and helpful. If you're a new player, you will always find someone willing to help you learn the game. I've never had a bad experience. And I also always try myself to help new players when I can. Also, I know there are people who complain about the rules in the most active server, but the rules are there to protect players from other players while keeping a realistic experience as an wild animal. I'm pretty glad there are those rules, because without them, the game would have been awful to play. Plus, the rules make sense for a realistic experience. [*]The map is huge. There are a lot of beautiful places to discover and different biomes (savannah, jungle, desert, caves, etc.). I love to travel with my group. Also, as an herbivore, you will travel more as you have to find safe places, away from predators, to raise your babies. [*]You can make your own build for your animal as you have skill points to spend in different things such as health, armor, stamina, attack, water, food, oxygen, fortitude (for protection against temperatures), etc. Each animal has basic stats and you can build your own stats on them. [*]Each animal has their own characteristics/abilities. Rhinos can charge, crocs can detect animals from underwater and grab them, hyenas make a lot of bleedings when attacking, gazelles are fast, giraffes can eat leaves from trees and they break their legs easily, meerkats and warthog can dig and eat insects, hippos and crocs can stay longer underwater without breathing, male lions and wild dogs can become elder, birds can fly and make nests, leopards can climb, etc. [*]The water dries when players drink. You have to wait until it rains for the lakes to fill up again or you can travel to find water. I think it's a pretty unique and realistic game mechanic. Also, you have to be aware that the devs are currently working on a new version of Animalia as they wanted to work on a fresh start to get rid of the bugs in the game. This new version will be crossplatform. You already can test the beta if you own Animalia. There will be more mechanics and new animals such as cheetahs and snakes. Well, I've written a lot, I hope at least this review will be useful to some people. ^^
