This was my first otome game. I'd recommend it as an intro the genre but there are definitely titles I've enjoyed more now that I'm familiar with them. The most unique thing about Amnesia is the narrative choice to make your internal monologue a separate character in the form of Orion. I have kind of mixed feelings about this, it is one way of separating the protagonist's thoughts that allows for a more conversational exploration of the situation but sometimes you just want to kick that bug boy out of your head. The story told is also pretty good though it is more of a route focused game than one central narrative. I usually prefer a more cohesive narrative but each route here is very pretty good and a couple of them I enjoyed a lot (Shin, Kent). This is also a good PC port with no major issues. Many other otome games have fairly low quality ports, so this is a bonus and it runs great on the Steam Deck.

There should be more warnings about the contents in this game. The bad endings in some of the routes seem like they were made to be the sole purpose of being disturbing, sometimes in the bad endings the characters suddenly do something themselves would never do based on their personality. (nope, I'm not talking about Ukyo, his situation was obvious) Includes a lot of situations where the MC gets k-lled, SA'd, threatened, m-rdered, brainwashed, kidnapped etc. It can be considered as psychological horror, but there should be more warnings about this topic since it still comes off as surprising in a bad way for people that have experienced similar type of trauma. THE MAIN PROBLEM is even though the bad endings can be seen as psychorror, there's a specific SINGLE route ingame that kind of starts with the MC being manipulated, basically getting kidnapped, and the rest of the route is spent in the place she's being held in. Throughout the whole route you have to try to get close to that character in order to get the good ending, which is... weird. It doesn't make any sense for her to try to be "somehow affectionate" to him, especially with her memories being gone, she doesn't even exactly know who he is. "Perhaps she's manipulated into loving him?" I'd say no. He tells her to stop doing it and warns her about how he "might do something bad to her". I don't think you'd really like to go through this if you're not into shit like this. If you want to get the hidden route and understand the story behind everything, you have to do it though. I am not against awareness in games about things like the abused falling for their abuser, but the game does a pretty bad job as showing that this is a bad thing. The good ending of this route seems pretty rushed for a serious topic like this; he realises what he did is horribly wrong, apologizes, but wents on with the "I did this because I loved you so much" thing and the MC just. forgives him? So it makes it look like it's justified because "it was out of love". People complain about how unnecessary it was for a character like this to "suddenly change" and be a bad person only on his route, but I think that shows how these kinds of people manipulate others into believing they're good and can be trusted. The MC and Orion are just f-cking d-mb. It was infuriating to watch them trust some characters too easily despite talking about how "they should be wary of everyone" at the start of every route. I can't really excuse the MC being too silent even after regaining memories with it being an otome game that should make it easier for you to put yourself in the place of the main character, because the MC's "too kind" and "too understanding" personality can't be controlled by you. She will forgive basically anyone. Though, I think the reason why the MC was so empty in all of the routes except for Ukyo's was to show that the other worlds were not the right/true one. I personally liked to sit in front of the screen and lose my mind though. Seriously. Except for one route (I'm looking at you, Ikki) the routes weren't boring, with every choice impacting the story and with the game basically skipping the days where nothing important happens. The artstyle is satisfying to look at, the cgs are beautiful, the designs can be called questionable but it makes the characters and the game unique. I especially liked how every character had a symbol of their own. The music changes make you understand the importance and meaning of each scene better, though I personally got tired of seeing the same backgrounds over and over. The voice acting is amazing and the voices fit the characters and their personalities. The characters might not be for everyone's tastes, but I think anyone would have at least one that they would prefer over the others. I want a route with the cafe manager tho Seeing the 4th wall breaks was really fun and everything started to make sense in the last route. It makes sense it was the route where you could decide the end properly, since it is the true one. It was exciting to go through things that made it clear that this isn't just a random otome game that just exists for poor romance. Overall, there ARE problematic things in the game. Considering it a psychorror doesn't really excuse some of the elements. It should NOT be ignored, but the rest of the game also shouldn't be put to trash because of a route. It was fun to play, it left an impact, it has a good story, and I don't regret playing it. I don't think the full price is worth it, but it's definitely worth a try. Play it for Kent. He deserves everything. Best guy. There should be a "maybe?" option under the "Do you recommend this game?".

One word: KENT. Seriously, if you haven't done Kent's route yet please for the love of everything do it. It watered my crops, cleared my scars and acne, solved global war and hunger, caused puppies to fly and puke rainbows, and so much more. I'm definitely late to the Amnesia party but so far I've enjoyed it! Some of the routes/endings can certainly be dark and even a bit triggering for certain audiences so I would definitely prepare yourself if you tackle them ahead of time (I'm looking at you, Toma). But overall I feel like the story is fun and I enjoy the dark atmosphere, so if you're a fan of otome games and more thriller/psychological stories, this is certainly a nice game to add to your collection during a sale or something.
