This game is such a good balance of basic game mechanics, and storytelling. I love how this was very story oriented to the point where everything you interact with tells you something about it. At parts it was terrifying, at others it was intense but bearable. I recommend this for anyone who is really looking for a story rich game that is mentally traumatising whilst fun to play! As someone who has completed the game 100% It is enjoyable through and through!

Actually a beautiful story. I was nervous of what I was getting into due to the reviews, but I was blown away with how much I actually enjoyed it. This game most definently had the same feel as Dark Descent, which I really appreciated. The amnesia games always have the best stories I've seen in games, and this one did not dissapoint me. Regardless of the gameplay changes that were made that made it slightly different from the others the game still had me hooked and wanting more. The puzzles were easier this game, at least for me. I didn't have to look up guides as much which I personally liked but I can imagine the game being easier may turn it off from others. All of the Amnesia games have a sense of rectification in them, and this one hit that theme on the nail. I loved the story, and even if I felt I knew what was going on the longer I played the more I learned what was happening, even till the very end. Anyways, all this to say I really enjoyed the game and I know for a fact the entirety of the Amnesia series is are some of the best games I've ever played <3 :D

"Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs" is the official sequel to "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" (Assuming you do not count Amnesia: Remember or Amnesia: Justine), a 2010 survival horror game which revolutionized the way horror is made in gaming now and the many ways that atmosphere plays a role in the tone of a game. Much like its predecessor, A Machine for Pigs borrows many of the puzzle mechanics of The Dark Descent whilst throwing away a lot of the other ones. You do not need to worry about resource management or inventory skills like The Dark Descent or any other game in the series; rather, it is a game which focuses more on the story and setting rather than the gameplay aspect. I honestly thought this was a great choice, creating a sequel which focuses more on the plot and immersion of the game's universe and less on fun-factor or problem-solving. A lot of people have criticized this, stating that the game is a "walking simulator" and that it serves as a weak sequel to one of the most influential horror games of the decade. And while I do agree that this game could've been improved with more gameplay elements and that this is probably the worst installment in the Amnesia series, that doesn't necessarily mean the game is bad. If you can approach this game with an open mind and are willing to experience The Dark Descent in a more story-oriented way, I'd definitely recommend it. Focusing on what this game does wrong will only make you miserable while playing it. It's not really a game that's meant to be scary as much as it's meant to tell a story that is disturbing. While I do often think to myself: "Oh, they should've done this" or "Oh, they should've done that" while playing the game, it helps to remind to remind myself that it's not really a sequel that tries to be similar as much as it's a similar game with a different approach. 7.8/10!

This game is a piece of art. A piece of pure art, painted the vibrant shade of dark and terror. Anywhere else, have I ever witnessed a story better than this? No. A story about a man, and his twisted views of the world and his attempt to lead humanity to redemption. Slaughter, murder, sacrifice; all because of the unconditional, infallible love towards his children, his dear boys. To follow a man's quest of preventing upcoming horrors through total bloodshed, to see him realize his errors, to see him end his very self to stop the eradication. A man who only wanted good, turned into a monster by his visions, blinded by the love for his remaining family.

The best story in the series. The game however has massive performance stability issues on modern hardware.
