General Experience Ambrosia is one of the better corruption-based eroges that I have played. The main character is adorable and extremely likeable, and the overall pacing of her development isn't horribly rushed or over-the-top in the late game. The story isn't really anything groundbreaking, but it's coherent and clear what your goals are. The adult content is gradually opened up to you, and I personally find the slow-burn to be charming and well-done. You can also decide how much corruption develops by choosing whether or not to increase the indecency level, which I thought was pretty unique since most games will not give you that much control over it. The non-adult drawings that you see for smaller tasks were also some of my favorite parts, they were just so adorably drawn. Overall, Ambrosia is a great entry to the genre and should be picked up if the "female protagonist with corruption" theme is up your alley. Adult Content There is a large amount of content available in the game (you do need to download the patch from Kagura's website). Most of the unique content is going to be a visual novel style cutscene, while the others are some crude animations with people you engage with in the open world. The art style for the scenes is very well done. Each scene has different dialog and even different artwork depending on which of the 3 indecency levels you were at. Included in this are defeat scenes for most of the areas. All content is going to be available in a Memory room, where you can rewatch all the scenes. When you beat the game, you can purchase all the memories from the lady in south-east Myra. This also includes the endings. The content is generally tame, I think the wildest thing is a few tentacle encounters. Complaints I didn't really have issues with the game. It could be argued that it is a little repetitive, but it's very generous for the genre. You start very pure, so indecency takes a little time to start up. If you fight monsters when you explore, you don't need to grind at all later. If I had to nit-pick, it would probably be that scenes have to play out in order rather than at your current indecency level. It's slightly immersion-breaking, but it's not a big issue. Replayability There is a New Game+, which lets to take everything into another playthrough. However, the replay value is pretty low, as there are no new things to experience. You more than likely would be replaying it to either go full corrupt (if you didn't already) or a pure route. There are several endings but you can view them all with the Memories unlocker. Achievements There are no achievements you have to worry about and there is only one point of no return near the end of the game if you want to try and do everything. Technical Issues Even though the RPG Maker engine is jank, I didn't run into any unique issues in game. Value The game is by default $15, and is on sale for about $9. I think either price is pretty decent, I didn't grind excessively and still got about 17 hours, which is pretty decent for the genre. I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of this specific genre of eroge.

While the most primitive of the eroges by Shimobashira that were published on Steam, Ambrosia is still one of the best eroges one can buy. Whether you choose to buy it on sale or full price doesn't matter. There is enough content here to justify its price. What about the content, though? In order to fully enjoy Ambrosia (and most other eroges published by Kagura) requires a patch from Kagura's website. Unless you patch it back in, there is no sexual content here to be enjoyed. Now, the actual reason you want to buy this game: the sexual content. Prepare your little soldier, because there is a lot of it. And most of it is good. Most of the kinks included are pretty tame and should be to most peoples' tastes. This game also features some decent combat and exploration. If you've played any RPGM games in the past, you should know what to expect. Just don't go in expecting Karryn's Prison (to this day, it still has no direct competitor.) But don't let this turn you away from Ambrosia. Most RPGM and Wolf Engine eroges look and behave similarly. Karryn's Prison is simply the exception to the norm. It doesn't mean that all other eroges are bad games. While Karryn's Prison is my all time favorite eroge, Ambrosia and the other eroges by Shimobashira sit comfortably on my Top 10 eroges list, and I don't think they'll be leaving that spot any time soon... So please, go and enjoy Ambrosia. You won't regret it. And if this is your first eroge, I have to say that you have good taste. Welcome to the club. Even though I took a couple of schlongs up the back door, the game still labels me as a "virgin", thus I was able to get the Virgin Slut Ending. Thank you Shimobashira Workshop for letting me tease my way up to be the ultimate slut priestess, while keeping my v-card intact and still get an ending along with a nice H scene for it. 10/10 game, would slut again.

So, this isn't as good as magical girl Celes which is pretty much the gold standard for these types of games, but it's okay. This is a corruption game. That mean girl will go from innocent to being corrupted. "fun" on defeat mechanics... sort of, but while I would enjoy losing with magical girl, not so much with this game. The best gear seems to be out of reach until you no longer need it, which is disappointing. Leveling is capped at 99. Some stats can continue to build due to buffs but the benefits seem extremely small based on end game and very small damage increases. Drops appear random in that there are some special ingredients required for recipes and you have to beat bosses over and over again to luck out on a drop. I didn't feel that this game added anything new to the table. It was okay. If this is your first intro and you like that "corruption" flavor, then you may really enjoy but if you've already played magical girl... think pizza made by a pizza master vs totinos store bought pizza. Post highshool and moving out of 'rents place, it was fine, but then when get older and have money to splurge... going back can be a bit rough. If you've never had totinos, then you don't even get a nostalgic bite down memory lane so it's just... well... totinos. That's about how I felt about this game. Sure, I'll recommend it. It wasn't bad, it fed the belly, but everything it did, it did not as well.
