Alisa is a very hard game to break down as the good and bad are at times in equal measure. HOWEVER the final product overall is clearly a labour of love and worth a play. Pros + Great campy voice acting + At times a great tribute to PS1 horror + A wide variety of endings + Lots of secrets and optional outfits to find and collect + Excellent aesthetic and enemy design Cons - Harder than almost every single PS1 horror game (from someone who has beaten most of them) this requires a colossal amount of patience and luck to get through, or a very high skill level. There is no middle ground. - The "auto-aim" optional item is even less effective than auto aiming in first gen PS1 games - Story is pretty non-existent - Very easy to get soft locked and have to start the entire game again due to difficulty and lack of resources. Alisa is simultaneously a joy to play and incredibly annoying to play at times. It straddles the line of being fun while appealing to a hardcore demographic. The game lists "Souls Like" difficulty, as someone who has beaten every souls game I'd argue this is considerably more difficult. That said it looks and sounds great, is a lot of fun to explore and once you get the hang of the combat and difficulty it IS manageable if still frustrating at times. A proper easy mode (and not the bad auto-aim and body mods) would be a far better option for greater enjoyability for the player base. That said simply for the amount of love oozing from the game and the high quality finish in it's final patched state I have to give it a positive 6/10

This is a pretty great retro throwback game in the style of old school PS1 survival horror games. It has options for tank controls and "modern" (DMC-style) controls. It took about 9 hours to beat the first time and about 30 hours to 100% complete. There are a lot of fun achievements so it's well worth it. My one complaint is that there are too many camera angles and not enough thought given to camera placement. Very often you're in a TINY room with just one or two enemies but there are like 5 camera angles so you're running in circles while the camera is changing over and over and over and over and over and you can't get your bearings. It makes combat INFURIATING at times. With some better planning for camera angles, rooms like this could have like 2 camera angles instead of 5 and combat wouldn't be as frustrating. Overall, though, it's a fantastic game and well worth playing. Highly recommended for someone looking for this type of retro game.

While retro style games are very much in style for indie developers, it usually comes down to borrowing a few aesthetic touches here and there with most of the game being modern at heart. Here comes a true retro game, the closest thing to a classic fixed camera survival horror experience you could hope to find. Tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds, low-res FMVs, bare minimum accessibility, the works. If you want a serious hit of nostalgia, this feels more like running an emulated classic than any new release has in a while. And it's a bloody good time to boot! If you're familiar with the genre, then all you need to know is that this one comes in haunted dollhouse flavor. A theme that is realized far more unsettlingly than I first expected. What initially had me thinking of a more family friendly alternative to blood dripping zombies quickly had me squirming uncomfortably at the first knife-handed broken-legged crawling doll lunging at you. And if you're a fan of clowns, oh boy is there a stage for you. The theme is milked thoroughly for all it's disturbing potential with lots of special enemy designs unique to each location. Some of them are one-off characters so there's new faces around every corner - more than you'll ever care to meet. As for the gameplay, expect the usual. Unwieldy combat, scarce ammo and healing, lots of puzzles, saving only in safe rooms... If anything, I feel like classic Resident Evil didn't give me quite such a hard time, especially in terms of guns and ammo. The puzzles however all feel more manageable that the authentic deal. Not having played anything quite like it in some time, it took some getting used to but all its unique eccentricities soon had me hooked. So if you're in the mood for some very classic survival horror with a unique and interesting setting, this is just the thing for you.

7/10 This is a good modern retro game. You can feel the Alice in Wonderland cross over with Resident Evil 1 throughout the entire game. Honestly worth checking out for anyone looking for a medium-length retro-feeling game. Got stuck a few times but with time and luck was able to make my way through.

Played it just an hour, it does not scare me at all, but plays like survival horror such as AITD and RE from early 90th. Actually it feels more like AITD than RE. It has some flaws with combat system, but this is the type of game you fall in love with imediatelly and want to play it despite some painful flaws. And its interesting to play even if it does not feel scary. I cant call if survival horror, i think survival adventure would be more fair name of genre in this case. as game stands somewhere in a middle between classic survival horrors and classic adventures. Despite horror aspect is minimal here (maybe its a too bright lights, music, sounds and overall atmosphere, that makes game feel non scary but perculiar, like some The Rocky Horror Picture Show), survival aspect is good, you have monsters dropping loot in form of gears that serves as universal resource that you can use to buy weapons and upgrades and even ammo and also to save. And so it creates an interesting loop where you need to kill more enemies to get more gears and choose to get more ammor or save for weapons and also to save for save, but to do that you have to have more ammo and be very accurate in shooting or conserve ammo with pretty weak and slow melee attacks. And save slot is single one, so you cant return to previous save point. I screwed myself up by wasting all ammo and all gears for ammo and have little health remaining, and i did not find any medpacks yet, so i have to start new game and play better this time around, lesson learned the hard way. But im not complaining, just explaining how hardcore the survival part is here. Game is harder as Resident Evil for sure. Ill update this review once i play more.
