The game is a diamond in the dirt, but the devs are doing a good job to get it all shined up, its buggy and loading can be a pain but the gameplay is rly good. its also worth gettin there other game blackthorn arena, to the devs keep up the good work.

This game reminds me of a Mount & Blade/Kenshi hybrid kind of. Its not perfect and has bugs but I was surprised by the mixed reviews since I have had a blast playing the game so far.

I really wanted to do a "maybe" rather than a thumbs up, but thumbs down would be too harsh. Summary: a standard 4-man-party D&D style adventuring system. A few minor and major bugs. Engaging enough, but unfinished and very unpolished. Worth a play, but I wouldn't buy at full price - wait for a sale so that the flaws don't feel too irritating when you encounter them. The Good - Character creation, skill tree options and levelling options are well done - The crafting system is straightforward and has plenty of options - Unusually for these games, they get the economy right, and you'll not find yourself embarrassingly rich until the very end of the game - Lots of different enemies - Decent mix of towns, dungeons, sub-areas and the open world, with conflict and exploration in each The Bad - There's an attempt to do a kind of Dragon-Age combat here, where you can control each attack. Potentially interesting, but you'll never use it. 99% of my battles are my squad simply butchering the enemies at x3 speed, choosing their own attacks with AI. As a result, you're not really involved in combat other than to put your team there. There's no challenge in it. - Travel. It's not a huge map, but it's slow to traverse, even when speeded up. Especially when your team run out of energy and food quite quickly. Throw in the roaming bands of mobs and it can take a long time to get from A to B, which can be frustrating. - There's some unnecessary fiddliness about the interface. EG, you can train different party members in cooking, alchemy and smithing. But you have to leave the crafting menu, click on the portrait of the specific character and then reenter the crafting menu to switch from one craft to the other. It's a minor point, but needlessly annoying. There are other examples like that. - Quest markers are erratic. Some quests will stick an exclamation mark on the map to show you precisely where to go. Others won't put any mark on there at all. In a couple of cases I have persistent in-map quest markers for quests which my logbook show as completed. I've no way of getting rid of them! - There's very little explanation of mechanics, or help for the player. No accompanying wiki to allow comparisons of gear, for example, and the game itself allows for almost no easy comparisons. - Not many bosses, and the loot is often mediocre. Occasionally you might come across a decent set of legendary gear when defeating a dungeon boss. Then you'll defeat another dungeon boss and get a standard blue spear which you could have crafted yourself at level 1. It's all a bit....random. The Ugly - There are some serious bugs here. For example, a major companion-recruitment questline is broken (Orcmaster), where finishing a fight leads to a purgatory where your fighters are stuck in an arena with no way to leave or interact further. Likewise I encountered a serious bug in mid-game where my team wouldn't move when loaded, and another where leaving town dropped the squad into a greyed out screen with no way of going forward. Fortunately, it allows up to 10 autosaves, but my advice is save very regularly, as I certainly had to go back and use old saves to get around bugs. - This is clearly not a game where the budget ran to a native English speaker. The English text is usually bad, and occasionally incomprehensible. That really wrecks immersion, and occasionally wrecks gameplay as you can't work out what a quest is asking you to do. Couple that with the random lack of quest markers and you can end up with quests where you have no idea what you're trying to achieve, or where, or how!
