I wish modern Xbox studios would bring this back. This game felt incredible back on the original Xbox but does not adapt well to the PC experience. Definitely one of the games of all time tho.

I originally played this game in 2006 on the original xbox, renting the game from a Blockbuster. I instantly fell in love with it's goofy jokes and humor. The story may feel a bit rushed and some cutscenes may be a bit scuffed, but even today in the year of 2024 the story and gameplay still hold up. Advent Rising still remains as one of my most favorite sci-fi games and I still wish it got a sequel to this day.

Highly underrated and so deserving of that sequel its developers so wish it could have had. If you've heard anything bad about this game, it's likely because of the console version odd control scheme and weird mechanics. The PC version is way better and perfectly enjoyable. While it won't blow your socks off, it's still a fun time.

Despite the glitches I love this game. It was my favorite game when I was a kid. I loved the combat. There's just something about it I can't quite put my finger on. No other game I've ever played has let me slow-mo dive over an alien twice my size, shoot a rocket launcher at someone else from one hand, while throwing another using telekinesis with my other hand, then spin in mid air to land and hit the alien I jumped over with a 3 hit combo that sends him flying 50 feet. The different ways you can combine weapons and powers will make you wish for a longer game so you can experiment more and level up other combinations. The animations are excellent for both reloading and jumping. I would spend 15 minutes just jumping around side to side then dual reload as soon as I land because it just looks so damn cool. After your jump is upgraded of course. This game does a superb job of making you feel insanely powerful, while still providing a challenge. I wish some studio would take the combat mechanics from this game and make something new. Something where you can dual wield everything including rocket launchers. Use powers or guns interchangeably in either hand with the ability to aim at separate targets. Have simple hand to hand combos that end with huge knock backs, or even torso explosions. Polished animations for running, jumping, jumping while spinning and aiming, fatalities. I've played games that made me feel like a sports star. I've played games that made me feel like a silent ninja assassin. I've played games that made me feel like a tactical special forces veteran. I've played games that made me feel like a super hero or even a god. But this is the only game I've ever played that made me feel like Neo should feel like, including the Matrix games. This is the only game that ever made me feel like Jedi Master John Wick. I've been waiting decades for any other game to give me that feeling. Do yourself a favor and play this game.
