It hurts. I love this game, and it hurts, and that is why I love it. It quite simply hits deeper than anything else I've experienced on the topic. I highly recommend this game to all people, be they LGBTQ+, still figuring it out, or neither of the above. At 5€ it's a steal, at the price on sale of 3,49€ it's basically highway robbery of the devs. If I could go pay full price for this game, I would. 10/10.

As a trans woman, this game hurts. As a human, it hurts even more. But the pain is really good, while showing the struggles living life from a queer perspective, it also has very heartwarming moments, Games like this give me hope for humanity.

A YEAR OF SPRINGS: The Day To Day LGBT Experience. -Overview: A YEAR OF SPRINGS is a three-part visual novel, with each part centering on a different person in a friend group. All three parts are based on differing aspects of the LGBT experience, and portray what it is like to be LGBT in an accurate, meaningful way. Part 1 focuses on Haru, a transgender woman and the troubles she faces when she is invited to a bathhouse for her friend's birthday. Part 2 centers on Erika, who is having trouble figuring out her feelings as she tries to organize a birthday spa trip for Haru. Finally, part 3 is seen through Manami, as she discovers something about herself while trying to find out why her friends are acting strange. -The Good: -The LGBT Representation: The accuracy of the representation was amazing. As a transgender woman, the first part was so wonderfully uncomfortable, as I've had to deal with the similar experiences. The thoughts of being a bother and thinking you're invading women's spaces hit incredibly close to home, and I teared up once or twice from how realistic it felt. The other forms of representation were incredibly well done, and brought up memories of my past when I used to think similar things to the characters. -The Art Style: The art style is wonderfully soft and pretty. The rounded lines gave me a sense of comfort, and the pastel colors brought a much welcomed sense of coziness. The only way I can describe it, is that feeling when you flip your pillow over to the cool side. -The Character Writing: All of the characters are wonderfully written and quite realistic. Their personalities have wonderful chemistry with one another, which helped me feel immersed in the stories. I can think of many people in my own friend group that have similar personalities to the characters in the game. -The Bad: -The Endings: This is a very minor gripe, but for many of the endings, they didn't feel like their own split paths, but bad endings for the single good ending. The first part doesn't have this issue, but parts two and three feel like they have one real ending, and multiple bad endings. -The... Confused?: -Nothing! -Closing Remarks: A YEAR OF SPRINGS is a wonderful visual novel with top notch representation, character writing, and cozy visuals. It made me feel seen, and I was able to connect to many of the character's troubles in a way that immersed me into the story, and enhanced my experience. I highly recommend picking up this game, sale or no sale, as it can help you understand the struggles of some LGBT people, or help you feel represented if you are LGBT yourself.

A short, sweet, and emotional VN about three young adult friends navigating their feelings and sexuality. An exploration of queer themes, this is perfect for people who are LGBTQ or who have friends and family who are. Very wholesome and cute, my only complaints are I wanted more story!

As a Trans woman myself, I found the struggles in this game so real. The way she feels uncomfortable going into specific washrooms or change rooms because she feels like she doesn't belong is way too relatable, and it really just brings to light the struggles trans women have to face in a society that is overall built for a specific demographic. I really enjoyed the relationship building between Haru and Erika because I thought it was really cute. It also brings a really accurate depiction to asexuality and aromanticism, and how someone might be confused or conflicted because they realise that they might be either or both, and how someone who is aro/ace might be scared to talk about it because they feel it doesn't align with how everyone else feels. Moral of the story: Struggling to come to terms with how you feel, and who you are, is normal. Don't let there be boundaries to your identity, and figure yourself out as you go along. Be willing to accept those who are different from you, and don't take shit from those who are afraid to face difference. The world isn't as bad as you might think, no matter what you see in the news, or media, you should live knowing that there are always going to be those that will love you, care about you, and accept you for who you are. In summary, as a transgender woman who also happens to be aroace, I enjoyed the accuracy of the struggles depicted in the story, as I could relate to the characters in a deeper way. Whether it being reluctance to enter the proper facilities, being reluctant to go out, talk, or do things with others because you're scared, or even having to deal with the struggles of legality, misgendering, unaccommodating company policies, or just interacting with people in general. If you're trans, doesn't matter if you're AMaB or AFaB, you are valid, and you should do what makes you the most happy. If your're aroace, you are valid, and you should stick to what makes you comfortable, not what shoves you into the corner of societal expectations. No matter your gender or sexuality, YOU ARE VALID, so be confident in you, and ignore the haters. Be safe out there ya'll. TLDR: The game was relatable, fun, and overall amazing. You should accept yourself and others, because everyone deserves to be happy.
