I hit yes because the game is a cute little hour of your time. Don't pay $10 for it tho, def not worth that. Finished the game in 70 minutes, and then realized I missed an achievement, and that took an extra 21 minutes of me guesstimating on a stupid minesweeper mini game before I gave up. Overall A Mortician's Tale is alright, and teaches you the processes funeral homes go through to ensure the deceased are taken care of in a fascinating way. That said tho, def not worth $10 cause it's waaaaay too short, but I got it on sale for half off and I think that's worth $5 <3 All in all the development team did good for a game so short and simple!

A Different World I picked up this game, thinking, hey, basic retro graphics, but with a really interesting premise : "you are a mortician". Death is not a topic people talk about enough in the western world. We are scared of dying, we give it too much power, for a thing that is, inevitable. Death is taboo to many, even though it is a guaranteed thing for every one of us. The Premise The game starts out, learning a bit about the job of the mortician. But quite quickly draws you into the persona. A kind of person and the workplace, which we see as completely unconnected to our lives. Not being into tattoos or any kind of gothic and dark stuff, might also drag you out of your comfort zone. So I tried to imagine Abigail Beethoven Sciuto, the lab technician in the engaging CSI crime series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abby_Sciuto instead. Which I hope will set the scene, someone who has principles, and sticks to them in spite of a workplace and industry focused on only money and death. You get to see the compassionate side of the profession and people. It's a long while since I played the game, it's a really short game. It was so short I forgot to even review it I guess. 1 hour or so max. Unexpectedly it did give me a definite boost of confidence that I was in the right place mentally, and just need to keep at things. Even though it felt like things were stacked against me. Weird, but I enjoyed it so much I hoped and still do, there would be a new chapter at some point. This game presents death from a unique perspectiveā€”not as something dark, sad, or fearful, nor as a curiosity or an object of fascination, but rather in a calm, realistic, and serious way. A work that directly addresses the subject of death could even be seen as original and innovative. Honestly, compared to the themes and objectives the game seeks to explore, its structure is simple, its length is short, its content is limited, and the gameplay experience might feel inadequate to fully capture the gravity of death. Even so, I still think itā€™s worth experiencing.

This is less a game and more an interactive educational presentation about the death industry. I can't really say this game is "fun." The gameplay aspect is minimal and repetitive, except for the optional, extremely hard Minesweeper-type puzzle. But the game is interesting, and you learn a lot about the death industry that you probably didn't know. It's generally presented well and is good for making you think a bit. I don't think it's a masterpiece, but I don't think it's bad, either. It's expensive for what it is, but you can just get it on sale.

A Morticianā€™s Tale doesnā€™t really feel like a game, instead it functions more as an informative vehicle about the funeral industry. Its biggest strength is its ability to have you think about mortality in a constructive and comfortable way. Instead of spending time trudging through the pain of loss it instead focuses on attempting to honor someoneā€™s life. The game feels a smidge over priced and may not be a great game to play if you are currently in a rough spot regarding your mortality, but I still enjoyed this title.
