If I could give a mixed, I would. This game has potential, I will say that... but as it stands, its rough... real rough. Now I get this game is made by one person, and its pretty good that its gotten this far, but I am going to completely blunt and honest. You are given 9 days to go from barely defeating a single enemy, to becoming a planet destroying super saiyan. I love that concept, and power scaling to become a force of nature is great, however, this game needs more time to cook, because its still pretty raw. My playtime of 4 hours (as of writing this)... well 40 minutes was having to restart the game because it didn't save my progress after you unlock flight. So 20 minutes doing it once had been completely wasted, so I had to do it all again. Another 1.5 hours was trying to kill the "Guardian" to unlock "warp flight". It disappears, and its audible locator only works when you are so close, and it shoots you and disappears. I spent an hour trying to find it, and land a single hit. But every time I did, I accidently flew too far and it reset, its health going back to full... that happened at least 10 times. Well, AI combat needs way more work, because some enemies are stupidly easy, and others (First guardian) is a pain to deal with. The gameplay itself is fun, but irritating at times. Flying in an atmosphere is stupidly slow, especially when you have so search a massive area for a single enemy, but said enemy doesn't appear until you are virtually right on top of it because the draw distance is set so low. So I spent another 30+ minutes flying back and forth trying to find it. Oh god... speaking of wasting time, the load times... their awful. Reload a save? 30+ seconds. Go from the first planet to space? 30+ seconds. Atleast 10 minutes have been spent on a loading screen. Traversal and movement: Needs alot of work. Walking and jumping feel floaty and unresponsive, lacking any fast feeling response. Also, landing after jumping feels like you are on ice, and has caused me to fall from a high place numerous times. Flying is probably the only viable way of getting around, but this become painful when you go to a different planet. This is because the camera is locked to fixed plane, so when exploring a planet, you aren't orientated to the planet, and since you cannot roll whilst flying, it become tedious to scan a planet for what you are looking for. Also, planetary flight is slow... painfully slow. You unlock a fast flight mode "Warp Speed", but you can only use it in space, and not in a planets atmosphere. Fine, but there is not a fast mode for atmospheric flight, causing you to dip into the atmosphere, look for what you are looking for, and spend another 30 odd seconds leaving the atmosphere so you can go faster, then repeating the process. Guidance (Or lack there of): So, currently, there are "quests", and there is a quest log, but it doesn't work. So when you pick up a "quest" you are at a complete loss as to what you have currently, and no guideline to where you should go next. One "quest" takes you to another planet.. simple enough, just fly out of the atmosphere right? No. Instead you have to fly to a floating island with a stargate like thing... but if you hadn't been there before by complete accident, you would have no idea that was where you had to go. Anyway, so you found this stargate that takes you to space, just fly towards the right planet, because surely using the scanner like mode will tell you the names of the planet right? No. You are completely blind, no idea which planet you need to go to further the "questline". So you aimless pick a planet and fly to it, and realise its the wrong one. So you have already wasted time... which is a precious resource in this game... considering you only have 9 DAYS to become a godlike being. Quests you pick up are not logged, you have no markers, and only currently have what the NPC says, which is vague at best. Visuals/Aesthetic: Graphically, it looks great, but it also just looks like a stock Unreal store mish mash of styles. I won't complain about the use of the models if everything else is good, but the terrain also is lacking any... polish. Is looks like it has been done quickly with a terrain tool, and doesn't look natural. This also then ties into the traversal, as each area is essentially walled off, and flight is the only viable way to get around. Also, at times, the brightness gets way too dark, to the point where in some places, I couldn't see a thing. Gameplay: Now, outside of the glaring flaws in the quest system, stock store assets, exploration, combat ai... Is it a fun game? Suprisingly, Yes it is. I have picked it back up after quitting it because of a bug or just because something was tedious... because at its core, it is fun. I mean, who doesn't love being able to spirit bomb a planet and just eviserate it all in the pursuit of power? The game is very reminicent of Megaton Rainfall, in the sense you are some otherworldly being, who can just destroy everything. I loved Megaton Rainfall, and in time, with some TLC, this game will be the perfect powerscaling fantasy game everyone has desired. Dialogue: So... in my time playing I havent finished the game / reached the 9th day. But the dialogue is something that you run into... alot. 90% of the quests are given via word of mouth, with voiceless soulless NPC's , with not cutscene or anything, just lines of text like in a silent VN. But one single quest (Dojo) has a cutscene, and actual voicelines... which promptly threw me off. It wasn't just one line, but about a minutes worth. It was jarring that up to that point, it was silent, but to suddenly have a voiced character? It was odd. But after that single voiced event... back to silence. You are also going to find yourself going back to an NPC to figure out what you were supposed to be doing, or where you are to go... but they replay the same line every time, so you have to mash the mouse button to skip past to get to the relevant lines. Also, no text log like in some VN games, so you cannot bring up a history of chat when there is no Quest Log at this point is infuriating. Bugs: Well... its still essentially in beta, so there are a fair few MANY bugs. Like quest objects not spawning in, or not registering you unlocked it. Janky ai, with barebones combat ability. Collisionless terrain/Object allowing you to get into places you really shouldn't be. Saves not actually saving where they say they did. Actually on that matter, the save menu doesn't have any information on the save, like the time you saved, a screenshot, or anything to distinguish each slot. So you have to just guess and remember what save you were saving in, or you are going to spend minutes on a load screen trying to get the right one. The bugs are numerous... but given enough time, can be easily fixed. Honestly, I would love for the developer to get a small team together, because its a really ambitious game for a single person to be making. Conclusion: Would I recommend the game? Probably. But not at its current state. As I said, the potential is there, and the core aspects are solid. But its still virtually a prototype, with glaring issues that need to be fixed or changed to make it better. Its not bad, and is certainly fun, but its just lacking in areas, and needs more time in the oven before its fully cooked.
