"10 Second Ninja X" [quote=Wendrex] "10 Second Ninja X" is a game developed by Four Circle Interactive that combines frenetic action, surgical precision, and ingenious level design. Released in 2016, the game is an enhanced sequel to the original title, offering players an intense and addictive experience that demands skill, quick reflexes, and strategy. Below is a detailed and positive review of this incredible game: Concept and Narrative The concept of 10 Second Ninja X is simple yet highly engaging: you are a skilled ninja tasked with destroying enemy robots in up to 10 seconds per level. The game doesn’t focus on delivering an elaborate narrative, but the lighthearted humor and personality-filled dialogues between the ninja and the villain Captain Greatbeard create a fun and entertaining tone. This simplicity in storytelling is intentional, keeping the focus squarely on the gameplay and player experience. Gameplay The heart of 10 Second Ninja X lies in its gameplay. Each level is an action puzzle that challenges players to think quickly and execute moves with precision. Armed with a sword and shurikens, the ninja must eliminate all enemies in the shortest time possible. Gameplay Highlights: High-Speed Challenges: Every level demands you to defeat enemies within 10 seconds, ensuring constant adrenaline and a sense of urgency. Smart Level Design: The levels are small yet meticulously crafted to maximize difficulty and time optimization potential. Infinite Replayability: The star-ranking system encourages players to refine their times, chasing the perfect execution. This makes the game incredibly addictive for challenge seekers. Fair Learning Curve: While challenging, the game never feels unfair. Precise controls and clear mechanics allow players to learn and consistently improve. The gameplay strikes a perfect balance between strategy and skill, rewarding those who dedicate time to mastering their techniques. Aesthetics and Soundtrack Visually, 10 Second Ninja X adopts a minimalist and vibrant aesthetic that matches its fast-paced, no-frills nature. The environments, while simple, are clean and functional, allowing players to focus on the challenge without distractions. The energetic electronic soundtrack complements the game’s fast rhythm, keeping players engaged and motivated. Sound effects are also satisfying, especially the impact of the ninja’s attacks, adding to the immersive experience. Positives Addictive gameplay: The mix of action puzzles and precision makes it hard to put down. Balanced challenges: The game tests players fairly, offering a sense of accomplishment upon overcoming obstacles. Highly replayable: Chasing perfect times and earning all stars provides hours of enjoyment. Appealing visual style: Simple yet effective, keeping the focus on gameplay. Humor and personality: Lighthearted and charming dialogues enhance the game’s charm. Conclusion "10 Second Ninja X" is a perfect example of how simplicity and depth can coexist in a game. It offers an intense and rewarding experience, ideal for players who enjoy fast-paced action, strategic challenges, and the pursuit of perfection. With its ingenious level design, precise controls, and lighthearted humor, 10 Second Ninja X stands out as a gem in the action-platforming genre. If you’re looking for a game that will test your skills while delivering pure satisfaction, this is a title you shouldn’t miss.

In this game, you take on the role of a ninja navigating through challenging levels with the objective of completing them as swiftly as possible. If you have an interest in speedrunning or have been hesitant to try it, this game is an excellent choice. In 10 Second Ninja X, your mission is to eliminate all enemies within the level in the shortest time frame. This task demands not only quick reflexes but also strategic foresight, as you often need to determine the most efficient route and sequence for defeating enemies to achieve a high score. The increasing difficulty of the levels can evoke the essence of puzzle games, as you must cleverly utilize the environment, activate switches, and defeat enemies in a specific order to succeed. The thrill of executing the precise action at the exact moment to achieve a three-star rating on a level is immensely rewarding. Despite its challenges, this game is quite accessible for casual players, such as myself, for two main reasons. Firstly, it is not necessary to earn all three stars on each level to advance. While a certain number of stars is required to unlock subsequent worlds, the amount needed is reasonable and becomes easier to attain as more levels become available. Secondly, by engaging in a minigame, players can earn tokens that provide hints for the levels. These hints reveal the optimal path and effectively guide you through the "puzzle" of each level. I found these hints to be incredibly beneficial, significantly reducing any potential frustration. However, it is important to note that the minigame's difficulty escalates over time, so it is advisable to use your tokens wisely. As anticipated from a game of this nature, the controls and animations of the playable character are exceptionally smooth and precise. You will consistently feel that your ninja is executing your commands accurately, with any errors stemming from your timing rather than the game's mechanics.

I'm playing games in alphabetical order, and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/2hXJEfee8Eg Prefer to read? This is the sequel to 10 Second Ninja (Who would've guessed) that builds upon the solid foundation of the first game by basically giving you more of the same. Everything that made the first game great is still here, but feels more polished overall. The levels are more challenging thanks to some clever new mechanics, and there's now a greater emphasis on the story thanks to new NPC's that are scattered around the hub area. Sadly, the plot and humour miss the mark due to repetitive jokes that fail to land. Additionally, some of the bonus content is re-used levels from the first game, making for a poor experience if you're playing the games back to back. It's still a good game overall, but feels less focused than the original. As such, it comes with the same recommendation: If you love chasing high scores and frantic platforming action, you'll have a good time here. If you have little patient, avoid this unless you want to buy a new PC after you break yours out of frustration.

As a followup to the original 10 Second Ninja, this X release is a lot more polished and refined. You literally have 10 seconds to finish each level, after which you'll get rated on your speedrunning efficiency. These ratings earn you stars, which allow progression through the game's different worlds. Facts [*] Serves both as a sequel and a repackaging. [*] Contains several different challenges and game modes. [*] Fully relies on extremely fast reaction time and reflexes. [*] Contains boss levels, costumes and side characters. [*] Hardcore difficulty. [*] Ghosts can be utilized to perfect your run. [*] Online leaderboards are broken. Pros [*] Runs last mere seconds, not very time consuming. [*] The core gameplay can become very addictive. [*] Truly challenging, casual gamers beware. [*] Contains a new set of levels as well as the original ones. [*] Collectibles and secrets to uncover. Cons [*] Probably too hard for most to want to stick around. [*] Unplayable if there's anything affecting your reaction time. [*] Has the potential to become extremely tedious and frustrating. [*] Side characters add nothing and are an annoyance. [*] Broken leaderboards can cause crashing. Recommended? Yes. Purely because there isn't much out there like this. The game is based solely on speedrunning its short levels and having twitch reflexes is the only way to be up to that task. It's an old school platformer of the hardcore variety at its core. If there's anything affecting your reaction time, then forget about having any fun here. It'll be a tedious exercise in frustration and constantly remind you of your shortcomings. Getting a perfect rating on any of the levels comes down to the millisecond, and trial and error gameplay will remain the norm. If you're into that sort of thing, this is truly a little gem of a game though. Do note that the online leaderboards don't function as they're supposed to, and can cause certain levels to crash. These errors can be ignored and the main issue can be averted somewhat by switching to friend leaderboards. It was mainly a problem for me while going through the bonus stages.
