Overall I enjoyed this and would recommend it (with caveats) as an "old style" hidden object game, one of my favourite genres when I first used Steam; in particular I liked the use of other puzzle types as well as hidden object searches. But, as other reviewers have mentioned, Silentville does show its age and limitations in certain frustrating ways, such as mouse clicks for movement between scenes repeatedly not registering (I used the map for movement as much as possible), and the hidden objects lists partially obscuring some of the objects themselves. I didn't experience the game-ending bugs that other players have reported, and I did get all of the achievements but only after playing the game twice (in casual and expert modes) - at least one achievement which I would have expected to trigger after the casual play-through did not do so until the end of the expert play-through for some reason. So, some annoyances but, on balance and at this low price, still a recommendation from me.

I really enjoyed this game! Yes, it is quite mediocre, but according to the credits, it was made by only 10 people, so it's an impressive effort simply based on that! It has Achievements, Steam Cards, and is less than $1.50 CND! Yes, some items are partially hidden behind the item list, and the lighthouse anchor CAN sometimes glitch, but those weren't really issues for me! The puzzles are fairly simple, the HO scenes require a lot of item combining, and the mechanics are a bit convoluted at times, but I found these aspects charming! I would say ONLY buy if you're a VERY patient person! Locations require a LOT of searching for closeup scenes, HOS need a LOT of interaction, and GLITCHES may force U to restart!

Lift a Curse and Solve the Mystery of Silentville Last month, I played Cursed (2016), a game by publisher Jetdogs Studios, and I had a lot of fun with it. It was quite an interesting experience, very different from other hidden object adventure games I’ve played. With that, I wanted to see what else Jetdogs Studios has published, leading to me finding this one that piqued my curiosity. 1 Moment of Time: Silentville begins with us arriving on a train to the town. As we arrived, bursts of lightning struck, causing us to age and the train to become dilapidated in the process. What once was a peaceful town now lies empty. Everyone and almost everything has disappeared due to an unusual storm. It’s up to us to figure out what’s going on and how to stop it. Can it be done? After playing this game, I have a mixture of thoughts. The story is simple: a curse plaguing a small town, and we must lift it to bring everyone back. It isn’t the worst I’ve seen, as it kept me interested, but it is what it is. As a whole, the story is alright. Unlike other hidden object games, it took me a bit to figure out how the HO scenes worked, but once I learned about them, I got the hang of playing them. The puzzles and minigames were quite entertaining; they were not too tricky but required some thinking. Also, the graphics were nice and slightly different from other HOA games I’ve played. While I was playing, the Lighthouse Keeper’s House design and the foyer to the manor looked familiar. Then I realized they were similar designs from the 2004 movie Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events , which I thought was neat. It seems someone who worked on the game enjoyed that movie (I still do myself). Overall, I thought the game was an okay experience. 3 out of 5 ★★★☆☆!

The good: Interractive items on hidden object screen where you have to combine certain items together to complete the item on your list and complete the object hunt. Fairly long 4 hour hour adventure. The moving sketches storytelling cutscenes have an old charm to them. There is a fast travel system to different locations so you don't have to backtrack through different locations. The hint button can teleport you to a puzzle you can solve with your items if you are stuck. Achievements are raining down everytime you do something in the game. Seriously, you get one everytime you beat a minigame without skipping it. The bad: As far as the mystery aspect goes the story is pretty dull and the atmposhere is lacking in spookness/supernatural/unnaturalness in my opinion. Sometimes the hint button is misleading and unhelpful. Aged visuals one should expect from an older game but still the visuals felt pretty bare bones even with lower expectations. Unsatisfying ending as is quite often the norm with hidden object games. At least there is a conclusion in this one. To sum up, it's not the worst and it's not that good but taking into account how old it is and its 1 euro price, you can appreciate the fact that the developers of the game did their best to deliver an enjoyable experience with the limited resources at their disposal introducing some nice puzzles and new ideas to the Hidden Object recipe. I appreciate that the devs aknowledge this game is lacking compared to modern titles and didn't put a high price to it in the hopes of milking random unsuspecting gamers for all they are worth as other companies do. This alone has won me over more than the game itself.

Alright well... Older H.O.G., so nothing fancy... Not that it needs to be. Mystery -> Do your thing. The H.O. scenes are actually a bit different... You don't just find the item (not always), you actually have to find a certain ITEM and then another and then put them together. So like balloon + dart = balloon pieces. Yeah! There are also very little of these scenes... Most of the time is spent with you traveling... Finding things to do... Or maybe you just figured out there was a map... One hour into the game and can teleport on it... If you don't care for achievements: The Hint system teleports you to ALL the right locations. Okay... Not always. One time it teleported me in front of the tree instead of the guy I had to talk to. I just have... Three questions. Three? That's fair. One: How come only males remained to tell the tale? Now hold up... This has NOTHING to do with what you MIGHT be thinking. I meant like... Every person you meet is a guy... And I think your MC is a guy too... Just curious and leads to the second question: Two: Did the "bad guy" (let's face it, he wasn't all that bad) take all the women to be in his harem? If so, I understand... But then... Shouldn't you leave a few women behind... You know... To create MORE people? OH there is a curse? Ah well... Shucks. Three: Does the "bad guy's" wings have a coating of strawberry jam on it? Because they um... Looked good. I like his design though. On a more serious note: Why was the MC aging? When everyone else was on a time loop? Sorry, the REMAINING 6... 7 males! Just curious. If this was answered in the story... Oopsies. Regardless, it was confusing at times, but fun was had. Even though one of those rooms were severely creepy... Looking at you DOLLS! Thank ya! :D =)
