FIrst of all, I will directly start with my advice to new players about what you need to know if you're buying this game: - A bit weird but readable and understandable (Chinese to English) translation, error code bug (hex color code) among the script, typos, and FEW untranslated Chinese words (apparently one of them is located at the main gameplay, but lucky I manage to get through with barely understanding Chinese). - If you got error from accessing the main menu, just spam click the Enter button. Sometimes 1 of 3 will get you in, sometimes 1 out of 20. After 20 click, reload the game and repeat for better result. - If you want to completely understand the whole story, buy this game along with its DLCs in one go. It's worth it when the bundle is on discount. Otherwise, just wait until it's discounted (I got the full game + DLCs for a price that is even lower than the original price without DLC) - If you expect the ending from the main game will tell you everything, no. The plotholes and backstory are explained better in the DLCs. Now, for what I like and don't like from this game: Story : It sticks with classic murder mystery novel of "who dunnit" and "why/how s/he does it". I can see a mix of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", Knox's Decalogue, and Umineko element in this story, making it somewhat classic but refreshing, albeit not a masterpiece. I'm still intrigued with the murder mystery solving, and I love the twist this game gives, story-wise. The last chapter, however seems a bit off... which I assume is due to an additional backstory suddenly added to the plot and changed the main point of this game. If you already played the game, you might know what I'm trying to say the experiment, and the underground lab... is it really necessary? The first 7 chapter you are into solving the murder case and trying to find the culprit, and suddenly the last chapter (8th) you're being told about why all of you are all gathered in that villa. Well, anyway the ending also does not really help explaining the whole story, as it serves to give you insight about how to interpret what I assume as "open ending". There is 1 ending which corresponds to the DLCs, so in that sense, I think it's reasonable to call this "Secret" ending as the true ending. Gameplay : The deduction and collecting evidence part are interesting, although sometimes when we are to present strong evidence, the correlating statement sometimes does not have any strong basis to reason it. Not to mention, some clues are noticeably weak. I mean, we have this bunch of dialogues and texts flying round right? So, for example, who would have thought that someone's birthday written on their ID card will be used as password on 3 chapters after? It would be okay if we can trace back all the clues gathered during the deduction process, but instead the devs locked out the handphone (where we stored clues) function during this phase. I don't get the point??? Also, sometimes it feels a bit redundant to repeat the same process for different evidences, waiting for those text and animation to pass. The game itself is very forgiving, so the hurdle aren't that high except for some essential moments (though then you will still given the choice to Retry at the last checkpoint). I appreciate the game trying to be interactive as possible. That said, having to repeat the hidden clues over and over is plenty annoying :) Replay Value : I'm sorry to say this, but LITTLE TO NONE. In fact, completionists of this game must have shed so much blood and tears till we puke just to achieve all 10 endings, and for sure we're not going to touch the game ever. again. And why is that? Because you have to replay the whole thing from Chapter 1 to just to get different endings. Yes, all the story PLUS the point-and-click drag-and-drop deduction process. But you know what makes things worse? The story does not have different branchlines or routes, it will remain the same from the beginning to the end. The only thing that makes the ending different is determined from your Good/Evil status, Detective Levels, Hidden Puzzles (solved/unsolved), and your relationship with others. So not only it's hard to receive indication that you are on the correct route or not, you can only know if you fail/success to get the ending your pursue after defeating the game. And replay the whole process for another ending. I'm also sorry to say this but while the devs try to make the ending into twist, there isn't really anything special about them. The only thing that makes me at least satisfied is because I read the DLCs, otherwise my review might change drastically. Visual : The characters are pretty well-designed, but some CGs art and chibi arts seems to be of lower quality to me. Probably drawn by different artist, hence the inconsistency. The sprites are animated, but sometimes the movement is too fluid for human's body that it seems like they're swinging their arms around too much lol. Music/Audio : Nicely done voice acting! Nothing less that I could commented on. The background music is eerie to my ears, which probably suits the murder mystery theme of this game. Lastly, I'll keep saying this. BUY THE DLCS IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THE GAME. In fact, just play this game once, get this particular Secret ending, and go play the DLCs. (try to watch find them on youtube or bilibili something). I like the game and the concept and the interactive concept, although a lot of things disappoint me at least the story is okay through the end.
