Playtime: 3 hours. Include 5 chapters. Short point and click puzzle with chinese style horror. Difficulty is medium with hint available, best play in chinese language. Recommend for puzzle lover.

A Chinese point & click adventure (originally for mobile) in which you rescue your future wife Moqi. The story is often grinny, but the Chinese funeral culture is shown well. It has moon logic, but also a hint system with very direct solutions.

My first point and click game and I´d say it´s pretty good, I expected it to be more scary but overall really good. I specially liked the atmosphere and the artwork.

Paper Bride is an escape room styled point&click puzzle game that tells an interesting story inspired from Chinese folklore. I did like the story enough that i was able to play through the game without getting bored but i had some issues with the gameplay. It's really hard to figure out what the game expects you to do. I constantly felt lost and had to rely heavily on the hint system just to figure out what i should do next. Also i really would've preferred the hints to actually give you hints rather than the entire solution. While the games dialogues are fully translated to English, most of the puzzles rely on Chinese characters. In turn, this overly complicates said puzzles for non Chinese speakers especially because the answers and puzzles don't share the same font. Despite these issues i believe Paper Bride has a strong foundation that hopefully improve its gameplay aspect in the sequels. As for this game alone, because of said issues, i can only recommend it in a bundle or on a heavy discount.

I definitely recommend it: it is unique, has great atmosphere, and the majority of puzzles were challenging, interesting or fun to do, with lots of variation. It's also a rather lengthy game at 12 hours or so. The only negative is that some of the puzzles were a bit too hard to figure out if you are too unfamiliar with Chinese language and religions. However that's an important part of the appeal with this game, the cultural elements. If you are not chinese, you will learn new things about chinese culture by simply playing the game. Also, the game not only has a hint system, you can also skip puzzles you think are too difficult, and the game will reveal solutions to puzzles for you if you wish so. So you don't have to worry about getting stuck. I enjoyed the game, and will play the rest in the series too.
