The game title is not a grammatical error. The story starts off with Gensokyo disappearing. It hasn't completely disappeared. Plus, progressive verbs can be nouns. Anyway, this game is extremely unforgiving with its in-game currency punishment system. If anything, I think it should be removed. When you die on a stage, you'll lose half of your accumulated game points. This is unfair and redundant, in my opinion. The game punishes hard work instead of rewarding it. If you want to play this game, don't bother collecting the currency until you've finished the stage. Like, seriously, it can be so infuriating. Just come back to the early stages for farming instead. As for the gameplay, there are issues with the hitboxes. The bullets you'll have to dodge in relation to their hitboxes aren't always consistent. There are attack patterns or spell cards that look unfair, especially for the boss stages, but you can watch YouTube videos and learn how to dodge them. While there are options for you to buy the DLC content to unlock paid characters, I was able to finish this game on normal difficulty without issue. You SHOULD play this on normal difficulty first before moving onto Lunatic. The game does let you restart the story in a new difficulty with all of your gaming progress saved. This is very good on the game developer's end, especially if you want to unlock some of the Steam Achievements. Some of the locked characters are part of the story, while a few of them are not. The characters being locked behind a paywall doesn't affect the story, which is a good thing when you notice it. There are moments where enemies attack each other or when you have to protect allies that also fight with you. I enjoyed those parts. As for the maps, I don't have any issue with the designs, not even the technical issue of your character slowly sliding downwards on a slanted platform like the hill and stairs, for example. One more thing: there are these "magic pieces" you have to collect to make your gameplay easier. A few of them are very unfair, while a few of them are pretty smart, considering that you don't expect the kind of programming from how this game looks (note to self: I'm referring to the desert stage). I would've liked the latter part if the map wasn't so big... You can contact me here on Steam if you have trouble looking for them. There are answers and discussions already on Steam for these, though. The story is fine. There are people who are upset or find that the 2 different endings are unsatisfying, given how much agony the players had to deal with the ridiculous boss fights. The plot hole I can see is how this game doesn't have a proper prelude. You have a prologue of the protagonist walking into this situation, but you won't learn how it started in the first place. The story-telling in this game isn't the most effective, literally. I'd recommend you watch YouTube videos for some of the stages because it's practically impossible for you to read 2 separate dialogue boxes while fighting enemies and dodging bullets. You can alternatively pause the game when feasible. The art quality isn't the best, and the graphics aren't either, but I don't mind it. There are stages where you have to lower the graphics quality because it becomes unplayable with how much the environment glows, obfuscating everything. Utsuho's sprites have inconsistency with her hair, while the other derivative Touhou characters only have a single sprite, which is a bit baffling. While this is a 3D game, the sprites look like they're drawn, being modeled after the 3D models. The game has amazing soundtracks. I really love the touhou music arrangements, and this is coming from a music arranger myself. I don't think there's too much issue with the English translations. There are grammatical errors and misspellings, but there's only less than 3 instances where it was confusing for me to correct the dialogues. There are also Chinese idioms that don't work well in English, but I don't think you'll have to speak Chinese to know what they mean, along with Chinese humor. The English translations can sound like they're structured in Chinese, and you won't understand what they really mean unless you speak the language. However, they aren't important for you to be concerned with. Overall, while this game can be really unbalanced, unfair, and spammy at times, it's not as extreme as your average Chinese game. This game can be enjoyable if you like the Touhou franchise, but I would not recommend this as your first fan game if this were your case. Just be wary of game-breaking bugs. I've only encountered it once, where you're stuck at a stage, and it won't progress after defeating the stage boss. I bought this game when at a 85% discount. I think this is the reason I'm not as upset.
