A wonderful and fantastical summer vacation simulator set in the Shin-chan universe. If you're like me and played the game because of the developers history (the game was made by staff who worked on the Japan-only "My Summer Vacation" series) rather than the IP it's attached too, don't worry! You don't need to know anything about the Shin-chan series to enjoy the warm, August vibes the game excels at. The gameplay is rarely challenging, bar some turn based dinosaur battles; the focus is on exploring the small town setting, getting to know the townsfolk, while catching fish and bugs as the story unfolds. While it won't appeal to everyone, it is perfect for those looking for a laid back, summer experience.

I always wanted to try Boku no Natsuyasumi (which is getting more and more possible nowadays due to the work that the fans put in) and when I saw this getting announced for the west in a Nintendo Direct, I was already pretty excited to try it out at some point. It's basically everything that was promised from the start, but with a Shin-chan twist in this game. The humor is more fitting to the series (but not the english or early german dub), but at least in the part I've played now, it's a bit more childish and wholesome, I would say. I'm writing this review now (2.3 hours in) because I don't think much will change about my opinion, because the game will expand, yes, but it will still be a very slow, chill, slice of life, live in the inakas of japan-type game. There are a few technical problems tho: The game seems a bit pixelated and the graphics settings are basically non-existent. It also has a quirk which makes the game run at half your screen's refreshrate, which is still fine at 30FPS for this type of game, but I hope there will be some workaround or something in the future, especially for people without an 144+hz monitor, unlike me. I wouldn't consider those deal breakers for this game though.

Very chill game, if you need a game to wind down and lower stress level because of your job this is a game that i think you'll like. this game doesn't have any goal that u have to pursue, just catch a bug, go fishing, collect herbs and do what kids gonna do in their summer holiday. no plans and anything I feel like a kid again

Very funny and silly game. Odd sounds and looks nice. Fun time, but I cannot stand this card game thing. Rock-paper-scissors is the worst for people like me...no luck seen here!
